This thematic exhibition explores the ideas of territory, flux, borders, and multimedia by looking at the work of a number of contemporary artists whose work is rooted in, or directly related to conceptual art. The evolution of artistic practices since the 1960s is shown in parallel to the evolution of geographical ideas wich have been shaken by the development of modern technology. The goal of the exhibtion, beyond that of presenting the diversity of contemporary art, is to provide the public with a means of examing the changes taking place in our globalized society.
Twenty three artist are included in the exhibition; Christian Andersson, Michel Aubry, Cecile Desvignes, Cyril Dietrich, Future7, Nikolei von Rosen & Florian Wojnar, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Dan Graham, Valery Grachner, Jens Haaning, Anne-Marie Jugnet & Alain Clairet, etc.
The majority of these artists have been invited to conceive site-specific works for the galleries in the castle or designated urban spaces in the town of Mouns-Sartoux. A circuit will be proposed, beggining at the Castle and the surrounding park, then heading torwards the train station, the library, and the public park next to the Grand Peice apartment complex, marked works created for these different spaces. This artistic urban itinerary offers the visitor diversified look at contemporary artistic creation and illustrates the interest shown by contemporary artist in the urban landscape beyond the walls of classic art institutions.
