The DALLAS BIENNIAL (DB) is an artist run biennial. We look to the format of the international art survey as a means to advocate art production and investigate exhibition and curation. Each biennial will be titled DB, followed by the year of its launch.

_DB purposely seeks to examine what are often seen as the dominant centers of artistic production and display. This includes curatorial practice, exhibition models and education. Each biennial aims to investigate and reflect on emerging developments in contemporary art, set within a shifting context. As such, DB is not held to the standardized program in which it partakes, but rather, parlays it to create a workable interface between prevailing artistic and intellectual debates. The freedom afforded by this process allows an ongoing dialogue between particular cultural and artistic situations and the broader, international fields of contemporary art, theory and politics.

Founded by Dallas-based artists Michael Mazurek, Jesse Morgan Barnett and CJ Davis. The Dallas Biennial commenced in 2012 with a two-year long internet based event entitled, DB12: Volume 1 – 4.  For 2014, DB extended its vision with a four-month long, twelve-venue event, featuring over 50 artists exhibiting work in and around Dallas/Ft. Worth and in 2016 the biennial focused on the artists Hermann Nitsch and Teresa Margolles with an opening on New Years Eve.
